The Spotin team traveled to Chios to participate in a three-day series of events for World Water Day (March 22), organized by the Municipal Water and Sewerage Company of Chios (DEYAX) in collaboration with the Institute for the Sustainable Management of Water Resources and Water Law of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO).
The activities focused on raising awareness around water scarcity and water resource management – a particularly pressing issue for the island.
At the main square, community members of all ages contributed messages about water, helping create a collective digital “map” of Chios’ key water-related landmarks.
Children also contributed through their drawings, offering their own perspective on the importance of water.
Scientific seminars were also held in Chios and Kardamyla, with specialists presenting challenges and proposals for addressing water scarcity. Alkyoni Baglatzi presented best practices for how citizens can actively contribute to sustainable water resource management through the use of data and digital tools.
