Spotin is excited to announce the launch of the 4th Panhellenic School Map Competition, themed “The place we live in: Mapping our local Landmarks”.

The place we live in is more than just where we reside – it is the environment in which we grow up, go to school and create memories with family and friends. Every place carries its own history, monuments and points of interest that make it unique. This year’s Competition invites students to discover and celebrate the uniqueness of their own region through new technologies, digital maps and geospatial storytelling.

Working collaboratively with their teachers, students are encouraged to explore their local area, map the landmarks they wish to highlight, and present their findings creatively in an interactive digital geo-narrative. Schools are also invited to organize their own outreach activities as part of the process.

The Competition is open to students and educators in both general and special education, from grade 5 of primary school through to high school, across Greece as well as to Greek schools abroad. Duration: October 2025 – May 2026.

Participation benefits include:

• Raising school community awareness about local history and geography

• Training in new technologies and digital maps, strengthening digital and spatial skills

Free educational seminars and openly available educational resources

• Fostering the concept of active citizenship

The Competition aligns with the Ministry of Education’s policy “Discovering Local History and Geography” and with the new curriculum “Active Citizenship Actions”, both of which encourage schools to connect meaningfully with their local environment and community.

Participation and all technological tools are free of charge, with full technical support and educational seminars provided. Submitted projects will be evaluated by a dedicated scientific committee.
