Map Competition 3
"Watery Routes: Mapping the Value of Water"
School Year: 2024 – 2025
Description
The 3rd Panhellenic School Map Competition “Watery Routes: Mapping the Value of Water” focuses on water as a precious natural resource and a foundation for human progress and civilization. The Mediterranean trade routes, ports, coastal communities, maritime activities, folk culture testify our country’s close relationship with water. At the same time, the loss of biodiversity, water scarcity, water pollution and the reduction of water resources underline the urgent need for awareness and protection.
The goal of this year’s Competition is to raise awareness within the school community about the vital importance of water, using new technologies and digital tools. Students, with the support of their teachers, are invited to explore a topic related to water and creatively present their findings through a storymap (geo-storytelling), while organizing awareness-raising actions conducted by their schools.
Participation as well as the technological tools to be used are free of charge. Educational seminars and full technical support will be provided throughout the Competition.
The school projects will be evaluated by a special scientific committee.
