Map Competition 3
"Water Routes: Mapping the Value of Water"
School Year: 2024 – 2025
Description
The 3rd Panhellenic School Map Competition “Water Routes: Mapping the Value of Water” was implemented during the 2024-2025 school year, focusing on water as a precious natural resource and a foundation for human progress and civilization.
The Competition aimed at raising awareness within the school community about the vital importance of water, using new technologies and digital tools.
Under the guidance of their educators, students were invited to explore a topic related to water – from biodiversity and water supply to natural disasters, maritime professions, folk culture and local waterways.
After being trained by Spotin in the use of geo-technologies – tools provided to schools free of charge upon request – students creatively presented their findings as a geo-narrative (storymap).
They also designed their own awareness activities: questionnaires, interviews, field visits, songs, drawings, digital games, even letters with proposals that they sent or delivered to local municipal authorities.
The winning schools received fully upgraded, refurbished computers, kindly sponsored by the Social Enterprise KOINSEP Epanekinisis.
Commemorative notebooks were given to all participants, generously sponsored by EYDAP.
Participants: Teachers and students from the 5th and 6th grades of Primary schools and Secondary and High schools of General and Special Education in Greece and abroad.
